Michelle
What a novel idea - to be traveling and blogging and sharing the joys of being a "foodie" around the world. Enjoy!

When I was doing art festivals, it was hard to eat good food. The food available at art shows is often tempting and loaded with fat. It's hard to crunch of carrot sticks and feel virtuous when the smell of french fries wafts past your booth. I still travel, but not to art festivals. I've found it's a lot easier to take a bag of muncies on the plane and kill my appetite for eating in airports. The bag of munchies contains nuts, dried fruit, and seeds. It keeps you from getting too hungry. I'm surprised how well nuts make you feel satisfied.

The timing of this series could not be more perfect as many folk begin to travel and can use the reminders of why we eat and how the food can be a part of the experience--not its sole focus. I can't wait to hear what you ate in Fiji!

Thanks for the great tips, Michelle!

Michelle,
I've been reading your blog and I kept getting caught by the areas talking about quantity of food. My husband is a John Wayne so my family has watched True Grit more times than I can count. But in there is one of my favorite quotes. It comes from Mattie Rosse, the young woman traveling with the Duke trying to find her Dad's killer. Anyhow she said "Enough is as good as a feast."
Isn't that the truth?
Keep on sharing your most important message!

Personally, I'm probably boring when I'm on a trip.

I try to NOT eat when I'm on a trip, that way I know I won't get into trouble.
